Grandma Ann

Just three months shy of 99 years old Grandma Ann went home. In her long life I will remember her most for her humor. She was one funny lady. She always said something to make us laugh. We all have so many stories to tell, we would need days just to get through the ones we can remember.

She was the wife of 1, mother of 3, grandmother of 6 and great-grandmother of 11.

I have a vivid memory of her 80th birthday. We had a bunch of family at our house and she came bounding in so excited to see her family and literally jumped up and said "It's my birthday!" At age 90, while still living alone, she would never go a day without her normal routine which included cleaning the kitchen and doing her hair. At age 97 while visiting her she just couldn't say enough about how much she missed me and was so glad to see me. She kept patting me on my leg over and over telling me she loved me. It wasn't until shortly after that she stopped walking outside to see us off every time we came over.

Right now she is where so many of us wish we were, at the feet of Jesus praising Him.
We'll miss you Grandma Ann.

It's that time again

I know it's been awhile since I have posted, the truth is, I went back to work last Monday...yuck! Volleyball started Monday, so it has been pretty low key, but I still have to be at work. The hard stuff starts this Monday...football!

We have had a great summer, as far as weather goes, lots of rain and cool temperatures. Naturally, yesterday was our first 100 degree day (heat index about 107), and the forecast shows 100 or higher for the next 7 days. I am not looking forward to being out in the heat, but the worst part is taking care of 200 football players who are practicing in that heat. My warning to you today is that for the next few months I will be updating you on the happenings of the Rockwall Yellowjackets. Some of you said that last fall you were a bit bored with all the football talk, I apologize. Unfortunately, when that is all I do, that is all I have to talk about. We do have a few other things planned this fall, so hopefully with some of that mixed in you will still check in once in a while.

So, to start things off I wanted to give you a schedule of my next two weeks. I'm not trying to get sympathy...but maybe some prayers.

8/13 - 8/17
4:30am - report to field to give treatments and set up for practice
6am-7:30am - Varsity football practice
7:30am-8am - Varsity weight lifting
10:30am-1pm - Volleyball practice
3pm - report to field to give treatments and set up for practice
4:30-6:30pm - JV/Fresh football practice
6:30-9pm - Varsity football practice
9:30pm - head for home
10:30pm - sleep!

So that is the first week. The next week I get to add teacher in-service from 8am-4pm right in the middle of the day. I keep telling myself, it's only two weeks. I can do anything for two weeks!

So, it is the official start of football season. The Yellowjackets look pretty good. We have our stud quarterback returning, who has recently committed to SMU! I've been told our offensive line is incredible and we have some pretty decent receivers. I expect to see more passing this year, as our incredible running back from last year has graduated. We play our first scrimmage on the 24th, but it is a lot like a pre-season NFL game, you can make assumptions about what you see, but you just never know until a real game is played.

GO JACKETS!
