We're still here

So, we have been so bad about posting. Truth is, we have nothing to say. Kevin had a birthday way back on the 13th, but we didn't have a big party or anything, he's just a year older. We got to watch the Seahawks get POUNDED by the Packers, not much fun to write about. I've been working a lot, nothing you haven't heard already.

Sorry, life is pretty boring here. We are hopefully going to make a pretty large purchase in the next few weeks, that will be exciting, we'll post on that when it happens.

Cotton Bowl

The greatest thing about new year's day is without a doubt non-stop bowl games. I have always watched the Cotton Bowl and Rose Bowl since I was a kid. After several years of wanting to go to the Cotton Bowl, I finally bought a pair of tickets over the summer.

We only knew that the 3rd place Big 12 team would play a team from the Southeastern Conference (SEC). I love to watch SEC football, and in my opinion it is the best conference year in and year out. In the beginning of December we found out that the Missouri Tigers would play the Arkansas Razorbacks...Soooieee!

Now if you watch sports like I do, no matter what game or what sport, you will always pick a team to root for. So we decided that we would pick a team and be fans for a day. Allison wore red and she bought an Arkansas shirt at the game. I wore an Arkansas hat and carried a banjo (just kidding...about the hat).

I chose to support the Hogs since I think Missouri is a poor excuse for a state. Allison was excited that Arkansas was coming to town since a former Fightin' Yellowjacket is the longsnapper for the pigs. We decided that Allison is not a good fan as she was hoping for Arkansas to punt as often as possible so #51 could get into the game. Well, it turns out that the Hogs spent plenty of time punting in their 38-7 loss to the Tigers.

Regardless of the outcome, we had a great time in the second to last Cotton Bowl to be played in the Cotton Bowl. The game will move to Jerry Jones' new house when it opens. I'm not sure if two Heisman Award finalists have ever faced each other in the Cotton Bowl, but they did this year. Local QB Chase Daniel (Missouri-Southlake Carroll HS) and RB Darrin McFadden (Arkansas) were in this game.

Go Hogs, Soooieee!!!!!!!!!1

Happy New Year!

It's 2008! WOW! We had a wonderful time celebrating the end of 2007 and the beginning of 2008. We invited a few of our friends over, and their children, and had a great time hanging out. First of all, we wondered if the kids would actually make it to midnight, so we planned an early New Year's. When living in California it was easy because all you had to do was celebrate with New York. Well, since we are only one hour different that wasn't going to work. We chose 9pm, just because it was a good time and we celebrated the New Year with Argentina!

The kids made some homemade shakers to make noise with for the countdown. That turned out to be really fun...and noisy! Our plan was to count backwards from 10, shake the shakers and yell Happy New Year, run around the front yard screaming, make a toast with sparkling cider and then go kiss their moms. It went really well, the kids had a great time.

The adults just hung out and ate some food. We didn't have much of a plan, just enjoyed talking to each other and then, of course, eating the fresh New Year's cookies...YUMMY! I was pleasantly surprised by how good they were, I wasn't sure if I could pull it off.

When midnight came around Ethan was still awake and was a little confused as to why we shouted Happy New Year again, we just told him he could scream again and make another toast and he seemed to be okay with that. We had such a great time! Of course, when we chose our wedding date 6 years ago we knew that every year we would celebrate in some form or another, we thought that would be pretty neat. We couldn't be happier. We hope that your New Year's celebration was as fun as ours and a sign of the great things to come in 2008!
