more boring posts

That is what you can expect.  We broke our camera on our way to Calif.  Not sure how, but we will have to do some camera shopping this summer.  We have spent a fun filled week in California with friends and family, but we have no evidence.

The last day to...

WORK FOOTBALL!!! It's over. My last football event at Rockwall High School is over. The Orange/White game was pretty uneventful. The White team won, and I guess it was supposed to be an upset, but I later realized that they split the teams evenly.

The assistant trainer who will be taking my place was here tonight to work at the game. She is really nice and I know she will fit in well at RHS. Something really great about her, she is from California! I have been teased from the moment I set foot on this campus because I am a Californian, and look, they liked it so much the hired another one!

My last day to...

...provide water on picture day!  Yes, you read that right.  Today our JV and Varsity football teams put on their uniforms, took a team picture, then they took individual pictures.  That is all they did today, but our head coach made sure that we were there providing water.  I got to the field at 2:30pm.  Set up a table and filled up some water bottles.  The JV team came out at about 3:30pm to take the pictures...not a single one of them drank any water, and why would they.  The Varsity team came out at 4:30pm for their turn.  A few of them drank some water, but I think because they were at the end of the line and they were bored.

I have done a lot of strange things while working at RHS, but this ranks way up there!

Last days countdown

So I am down to the last few days of working at RHS. I have done this before, but this time it's different. Part of me doesn't want to leave, but more of me is so excited about what I get to do after I leave!

So, I will bore you with my countdown of my last days. Today was my last day of football practice! That is a big deal. Our spring season started on May 3rd, and today was the official last practice. I have not been as involved with spring football this year, but that was okay with me. Tomorrow they will take pictures for next year's program and then Thursday is the Orange/White Game. It's getting so close to being over!

It's over...

As many of you know Jason Castro, one of the contestants on American Idol, is from this little ol' place in Texas known as Rockwall! For those of you who don't know, he is a member of the Lake Pointe Church worship team, the church that Kevin and I are members of and have attended since we moved here. When he was selected to be on American Idol the city of Rockwall went crazy. We were so proud! For as long as American Idol has been on this season the word on the street is Jason Castro. Signs all over the city say "Vote For Jason Castro" or "We Support Jason Castro." His face has been plastered on posters and banners for months, he is kind of a big deal around here. The best part is that he is really great, Christian guy. He is simple (and those of you who watched him on American Idol got to see that) and genuine. He has been quoted as saying "What happens happens. If they like me, they like me. If they don't, they don't."

Well, last night was his last appearance on the show. Texas couldn't vote enough times to keep him one more week. Rockwall had already planned a parade and a mini concert for this Friday when we was going to make his hometown visit, and were ready to declare it Jason Castro Day! There will be no parade on Friday, but I believe that as soon as he can come home there will be a parade and mini concert, and probably a Jason Castro Day. Texans are proud people, and there is no one more proud of Jason Castro than the city of Rockwall.

As you can tell by this post I have been a HUGE fan from the beginning. I've read every article, seen every video clip and haven't missed a single performance. His sound is unique, and I think, if he chooses to pursue a singing career, he will do just fine. Even though I am a happily married woman in her 30s I plan to be in the crowd with all the other screaming tweens when he comes to town...wearing my Jason Castro t-shirt!

You had a great run Jason Castro!!! You made Rockwall proud!
