LONG STORY

Ok, so I have no pictures to post with this story, and after you hear it you will be grateful. Where should I start...
Kevin had to go to Houston for work on Tuesday morning, so I was home by myself. Not really a big deal. However, when Kevin leaves there has been this new trend of dramatic things happening while he is gone. When he was gone in June my car was hit while it was parked and we have yet to collect on it and get it fixed. So, he left Tuesday, and I also did something to hurt my back on Tuesday. I don't know what I did, but as the day went on at work it got worse and worse, I did everything I knew as an athletic trainer to fix it and nothing worked. Anyway, I was in serious pain by the time I got home, I literally laid on the floor all night long. A friend of mine graciously donated a muscle relaxer, but I was too scared to take it because I had to be at work the next day at 7am, I didn't want it to knock me out completely. I had never taken one before, so I passed. After a restless night Wednesday was filled with the same amount of pain, only this time it made me sick to my stomach it hurt so bad. I had a meeting at church after work so I went to that, it was supposed to go until 9pm and it went until 10pm. I got home at about 10:30pm and laid on the floor to try to ease my pain, made it to bed at about 11:30 pm. Sleep was a little better because I was so tired from the night before, but that only lasted until 3am. THAT'S WHEN IT HAPPENED!
Maggie started barking, which she will do occasionally and since our bedroom window faces the backyard we hear it all the time. Only this time her bark was kind of high pitched and she wouldn't stop. Constant bark bark bark bark bark bark bark! I'm upset because she was interrupting my sleep and I get out of bed. I was angry so I got up quickly, nearly fell to the floor because my back hurt, but was determined to get her to stop. I go to the window, look out and tap on it to distract her - no luck. She was barking at the planter by our shed. I got worried and wondered if there was a snake or something because I couldn't see anything else. She started lunging at whatever was there (still barking constantly) and then she got it and threw it into the air and it hit the wall of the shed - THUD! Whatever it was it was huge, bigger than a rat and not a snake. It had been about 15 minutes of barking at this point so I go to the living room and try to open the door so she will come in - no luck. She just kept barking at it. Then she proceeded to continue lunging at it, I still have no idea what it is. It's been about 20 minutes of barking. Then she begins to throw it around the yard (not kidding!) and she is still barking. It is now 3:30am and my dog has been barking for 30 minutes straight and she is playing with something alive (or dead) in my backyard. The neighbors lights came on (they are about 80 years old) and I just lost it. I started crying, begging Maggie to stop, praying that she would be quiet. My back hurt so bad I was hunched over. Then I called Kevin - remember, it's 3:30am. He answers the phone and I was so tired, upset and in pain that he couldn't understand me. After I explained what was going on he told me to try to spray her with the hose to get her to stop. It's now been 45 minutes that she has been barking. She has taken the thing to the other side of the yard and I can hear her with it in her mouth shaking it YUCK! All of a sudden she walks over to me in the doorway and just stands there, and looks at me and stops barking. She gets a little closer and she has blood around her head EXTRA YUCK! I decided at that point to leave her outside. She then got a drink of water and laid down to go to sleep, where she stayed the rest of the night. So, knowing that I had a dead animal in my backyard and Kevin was not there to take care of it, and I wasn't about to, I called our friend Aaron the next morning at 6:30am. He is a morning person so I knew he would be awake. He was at Starbucks with a friend so they both (thanks Dalton) came over and took care of the OPOSSUM! That's right, it was larger than my cats. This was absolutely the wierdest favor I have ever had to ask of anyone, and obviously the wierdest thing anyone has ever asked Aaron to do. THANKS AARON, I APPRECIATE YOU!

I love modern technology...you can write out the WHOLE story, with all the fun details! Glad you got it all worked out...and that Kevin is home now? Hope your back is feeling better too.
