Final Four

The Rockwall Lady Jackets have advanced to the State Tournament with a 69-53 win over the Bryan Vikings (sorry Aaron and Kay) in the Region 2 Final. The Jackets jumped out to an 11 point lead by the end of the first quarter, but the Vikes fought back to regain the lead a couple of times. Early in the third quarter, Rockwall's leading scorer (signed to play at SMU in Dallas) received her thrid and fourth personal fouls in a matter of seconds. Rockwall trailed 39-38 and had lost momentum. Anybody who knows basketball understands the importance of momentum. Well, the Jackets responded, or at least their guard responded (signed to play at Kevin's alma mater Texas A&M-Commerce) by scoring the next 9 points. With the momentum on their side, the Jackets controlled the rest of the game. It was the greatest display of leadership I have ever seen in sports, and I have seen plenty of sports.
Rockwall won Friday night's semifinal game over the Conroe Lady Tigers (Ligers) by a score of 73-47. The game was pretty much decided in the first quarter as Rockwall jumped out to an 18-0 lead. With 26 seconds left in the quarter, Conroe finally scored. The remainder of the game was pretty much played on cruise control.
The state semifinals matchups are yet to be determined. The gametimes will be 3:30 or 8:30 for the semifinal on Friday night and the final is Saturday night at 8:30.

Current record: 38-0

Side note: Congratulations to our good friends Aaron and Kay of Bryan, Texas (formerly of Rockwall, Texas) who had their baby girl last week.
