Wow, time flies!

Well, I am so far behind in posting, I apologize.

Last weekend my parents were in town! YEAH! I love it when they come to town, it's just nice to have Mom and Dad around. We didn't do a whole lot, I got to enjoy some down time, and they don't mind just relaxing. They arrived last Thursday, while I was working a freshman football game, so as soon as I got home we were able to talk for a few minute before going to bed. I took Friday morning off so I could hang out with Mom and Dad went golfing. My mom and I got to do a little shopping, and eat a really good lunch. Then it was off to work for me.

The Homecoming game was something I wanted my parents to experience. There is so much that goes on before the game, I just wanted someone to witness it all. Before the football game Kevin took my parents to their favorite restaurant in Rockwall, Joe Willy's. They have the best onion rings in the country, I'm not kidding.Every club in the school has a "Sweetheart" and "Escort." What this amounts to is your club's very own homecoming king and queen. They get announced before the game and they come dressed in fancy clothes and walk onto the field. This is in addition to the 5 guys and 5 girls who are the nominees for Homecoming King and Queen. It is a big deal! Then there are the mums. I think I referred to this a year ago, but this year my mom got a picture of one. The girl in the picture is the gymnastic coach's daughter.

There is a mum. I kid you not, this is a small one. The girls wear these all day to school. They are usually purchaed by their homecoming date, but often their parents will buy them one as well, therefore, they have two. They take great pride in their mums, if you are a senior your mum is silver and white, but only seniors are allowed to have those. Welcome to Texas!

We ended up winning the football game, but not without a fight. The final score was 21-24, a much needed victory. So, I guess the lake belongs to Rockwall, yet again!

Saturday morning we headed to the State Fair of Texas. We love the State Fair. My parents didn't have an opinion either way, this was their third trip to the Fair. We had to have a corny dog and a few other fabulously fried treats; fried cheesecake and fried cookie dough! Yes, you could actually see the inches being added to my hips as I ate the cookie dough!

After the Fair we relaxed at home and then headed to church that night. After church we ate BBQ with the Swansons (Ethan just couldn't believe that Charlotte was in Texas!) and then called it a night. Sunday morning started with a yummy breakfast from Cracker Barrel, followed by a trip to the airport so my parents could get back to California.

It was a quick, but fun visit. The weather finally cooled off while they were here, we'd been experiencing summer-like weather for the past two weeks, so it was nice for everyone.

Thanks Mom and Dad for a fun visit!

Can you pack up some of those onion rings and send them to Cali?
