Then we saw the surgeon. It was a quick visit, but we are so pleased with our choice. He is one of the best (if not the best) in the world for pediatric craniofacial plastic surgery. He took a look at Macey and let us know what we could expect. She will be having one surgery to correct the nose and lip on December 11. The next surgery she may need won't be until she is about 6 or 7 years old. Those were comforting words to hear. She has to be at least 10 lbs in order to have the surgery, and she is on her way and it shouldn't be an issue. We also left the office with a new accessory. Macey has to wear tape across her lip from now until the surgery. This is done to prevent her cleft from getting any wider as she grows and to help assist the gums from moving forward any more. So, much to the sadness of her parents, her sweet little face will be partially covered by some corrective tape.
Here is the before picture...

I could totally hop on the tape bandwagon! Who's with me???
She is still completely adorable!! We will keep praying for her
That is such a blessing to here that baby Macey will only need one surgery for several years! Maybe we can work the tape into a Halloween costume...
Sounds like similar news that we received at our craniofacial meeting last Friday. We also have tape to wear until surgery, which is tentatively on December 30. Since we have cleft palate also, we will have another one surgery at one year. Glad to hear you love the surgeon --- that is very important! We liked ours also.
That is wonderful news! And before you know it you won't even notice the tape anymore. Kristi
Grama Charlotte says she looks even cuter with the tape!! I would wear some tape too, but.. but I have a mustache... Gpa Max
