We had planned on a nice party at a nearby park. The park had a splash park, which is a fancy way for kids to run through sprinklers, and a fun play area all with a covered pavilion with tables. Our plan was to have the kids play while we cooked, then serve everyone hot dogs, pasta salad, and watermelon. A 1 year old's birthday party isn't complete without the smearing of icing all over the place, and then of course everyone else gets cake. Well, mother nature had other plans and it literally rained for 3 days straight. So, we had the party anyway, it was just kinda wet and a little cold.
We felt so loved because so many of Macey's friends showed up for the party even though the weather wasn't very party friendly. It made me so happy to know that Macey is surrounded by people who love her.

Macey trying watermelon for the first time with Grandma Charlotte. She seemed to like it!
Macey and Grandma Connie getting ready for the party to start. Notice the gloomy weather and wet sidewalk.
After Macey had dug into her smash cake. She preferred the flowers and ladybugs that decorated the cake, but she did get a good taste of frosting. She never quite made it into the actual cake.
Yummy!
I mentioned that there was a splash park, well, by the end of the party some of the kids had gone in with all their clothes on. I begged my brother-in-law to let Logan get in, and he finally caved. Well, when I told Logan that he got to go in he said (with the most excitement I have ever heard) "Auntie Allison, are you comin'?" I quickly said "Well, yes!" So in Macey and I went!
Here is Macey sitting in her rocking chair from Grandma Charlotte and Grandpa Max holding her baby from Grandma Connie and Papa Ross!
It was such a great weekend. By the time everyone had gone home we had been hanging out with family for over a week. Macey loved spending time with all of her grandparents and her aunt, uncle and cousin. What a special treat to have so many people to celebrate with!
Just because I feel a little sappy, here is our baby on the day she was born.

I still can't believe she is one. I remember the day she was born like it was yesterday, such a great day! Kate loved the picture you sent in the mail of Macey eating her cake. She kept walking around the house with it kissing it and saying baby Ma-eee.
That trip was such a blessing. And you think you're sappy? As soon as I scrolled down as saw Macey's newborn pic I started bawling!
