California!

Before things get completely our of control.  Hey, I hear you laughing, no, things aren't out of control yet, but the potential is there.  Anyway, I wanted to post about our trip to CA before the big move happens.  I may not be able to find the computer after that...hahahaha.

On Labor Day we had a big family day at my mom's house.  The McNeelys came from Fresno and we all hung out swam in the pool, ate food, ate food and ate food!  YUM!  It was such a fun day.  My kids LOVE their family, especially their cousins.  So anytime that they can spend with them is such a treat.

Early bday presents from Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Eric

One of the highlights of our trip was a day trip to Pismo Beach!  Xander had never been to the beach before, and Macey had only been one time when she was about 9 months old, so she didn't remember it.  Nana, Aunt Jill and Aunt Stephanie joined us for the day and we had a blast.  The kids loved the sand, and loved running from the ocean as it came up on the shore.  They also enjoyed the shells that they found (which were purchased by Nana and then "planted" by Aunt Stephanie...shhh!)

Look what I found!

Here's mine!

The whole reason we made this road trip to California was for a big car swap.  We were going to need a bigger car eventually, a Honda Civic doesn't have enough room for a family of 5, and our niece was getting her license soon and would need a car to get her around for her senior year.  It was the perfect scenario, our car is a great car for a teenager.  Small, safe and gets great gas mileage!  So we drove our car to California, sold it to Kymberli and my dad found us a Toyota Sienna mini van that we got when we arrived.  Woo Hoo!

Our new mini van

Bye!  Texas or Bust!

Kevin flew back to Texas early, so he didn't have to take too many days off (need to save them up for our trip to China!) so my dad drove us back to Texas.  We had planned on staying 2 nights on the way back, but my LITTLE ROAD TRIPPERS made it so easy we only stayed one night!  We drove 675 miles on day 1 and 780 on day 2.  Honestly, we had very little trouble with the kids.  A few meltdowns that didn't last long and the last few hours of day 2 I ended up sitting between them, but nothing major. They truly amazed me!

So, now that we have the room and we know our kids can handle a LONG drive...where will the mini van take us next?

So glad you made it out and back safely! And with a new van to boot! Looks like you had a ton of fun! Just found out that Joanna and Dan (and their 8 kids) will be stationed in Texas for the next few years so we may have to roadtrip and see both y'all. Or is it all y'all?
