Man Trip 3: The Liquid Marathon

After two trips to the top of Texas, this year we decided to head down the Brazos River for our man trip.  We started 8 miles downstream of Lake Whitney Dam and rowed to downtown Waco.  Our entire route was about 30 miles.  The trip started Saturday morning at 9:00 and we found a place to make camp at 5:00 in the afternoon.  We cooked, uhh bruned, uhh charred, our hobo packs that Crawford prepared for us.  At least we had a couple of real fishermen (Crawford and Ram) who treated us to some delicious bass.
As the leader of this trip, I earned my keep by deciding to tie up our boats overnight.  When we got up in the morning, our boats were floating but securely fastened to trees after we had pulled them all the way out of the water the night before.  I even fished out my fishing pole from about two feet of water where I had left it leaning against my canoe the night before.
We headed out at 8:00 on Sunday morning and reached Waco before noon.  We ended our trip with a visit to Health Camp, which is a small burger joint that has been on the "circle" in Waco since 1949.  After charred food and snacks nothing was better than greasy burgers and a milkshake to go.  Here are a few pics.
