24 hour post-surgery update

Well, what a crazy 24 hours! The morning of the surgery Xander was a sad little boy. He didn't appreciate all the poking and prodding before the surgery. He was given some "goofy juice" which made him a little silly, and a whole lot more comfortable. Then off he went. He had ear tubes and a lip repair, both went well and took about 2 hours.

When waking up he has certainly not happy, some strong meds took care of that. He slept most of the day on and off and was able to drink some juice and milk. By 4pm we were headed home and as soon as we said we were going home he perked up and started telling all the nurses bye-bye.

We were praying for an easy night, and we got it! He went to bed very easily (again, still on pain meds), and slept until I had to wake him up for more medicine. When I woke him for his 3am medicine he decided he felt good enough to play, so we did for about an hour before he was back in bed.

Since he woke up this morning he has been awesome. I had no idea that 24 hours after surgery he would be running, jumping and climbing on everything! I'm more worried about him bumping his face than anything else. I guess that is a good thing, I'd rather him be happy and playing than in pain.

We bought a train set many months before we even brought Xander home, and were saving it for a "rainy day" and we thought yesterday qualified as one. He loves his train, and it keeps him sitting down, for the most part!

Thank you all for your prayers! We knew the doctors and Xander were covered in prayer, and the doctors did an amazing job and Xander is recovering like we would never have expected. It is obvious that our God hears our prayers and cares about all the stuff in our life. His hand was all over this surgery and everything surrounding it.

Hi! I found your blog through RQ and wanted to say hi and congrats on making it through your son's surgery.

We've been home with our daughter for 8 months and she has her lip revision surgery scheduled for October 8. I almost cried when I read your previous post because we feel the same way! We love her little face as it is and wouldn't change it if it were up to us. A lot of people don't understand that.

Xander is gorgeous. He's perfect. Congrats.
