Life in Texas, McNeely style: Special visitors!

We had some very special visitors this past week, Grandma Connie and Papa Ross were here! We had so much fun! We started the week with a trip to the State Fair, and we had the best time. Texas surprised us this week with PERFECT weather. I don't say that very often about Texas weather, but 80 degrees, sunny with a breeze is nothing but perfect. We spent virtually all day at the fair, and in the 9 years that we have been here Kevin and I have never done that. Jason, Seana and Sharon (who was also in town) joined us for the day and made it that much more fun.

Howdy, Big Tex!

Kevin was unable to take any time off so it was Grandma, Papa, Macey, Xander and I during the day, and we had so much fun! Since the weather was great most of the time the kids were outside, which gave Mama a nice break. They played in the back, in the front, went on walks, played with bubbles, sidewalk chalk, you name it.

Macey's birthday was just a few weeks ago and since Xander's is just a few weeks away, Grandma Connie took the kids shopping for their gifts. Macey got a Little People doll house and Xander got a Little People garage. They loved their gifts, and did a pretty good job sharing.

Christmas?! No, Grandma and Papa came to visit!

Macey is a terrible sleeper and Xander is pretty good, but still getting used to his surroundings. So, as awful as I felt to have to offer Grandma and Papa an air mattress on the floor, they were very gracious and didn't mind. Each morning the kids found it very fun to wake up Papa, he seemed to stay in bed a little longer than the rest of us.

Since we got to celebrate Macey's and Xander's birthdays we thought it was only fitting to celebrate Grandma Connie's since it is in just a few weeks! We made cupcakes and Macey and Xander decorated one for themselves and then one for Papa and one for Grandma!

What a wonderful trip! We were so lucky to have them here and I will mention the perfect weather again, because it really did make their visit more special.
