Well, this New Year's Eve Kevin and I got to celebrate our 10 year anniversary!!!! Years ago we had thought that for our anniversary we would spend our first vacation away from our kids in Mexico for a week, or something fun like that. Well, part of that became reality, we spent our first "vacation" away from our kids, but it was two nights and only about 45 min away. Now, I am not complaining! The main reason we didn't take a big vacation like we originally planned is because we are waiting for Lyla, and a big trip to China to get her is definitely worth it!
Our first night away we went to a fancy steakhouse where a cute table decorated in honor of our anniversary waited for us, along with a complimentary glass of champagne and dinner was followed by complimentary dessert.
We spent 2 nights at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine. It is a fabulous hotel, and I guess like most parents on their first night away from their kids, we talked about how much fun they would have at this hotel. Definitely a family place, as well as a great get-away!
We spent our anniversary in downtown Grapevine shopping, which shows you how much Kevin loves me. He did enjoy it for a while, but when I was about half way done with my shopping for the day he had had enough. He put up with me for the rest of the day, what a trooper! And since this is a family blog I can say this, we literally spent the New Year watching the clock strike midnight in our PJs in bed. Man, we have aged fast!
While we were gone Nana and Grandpa Max were busy with the little ones. Grandpa Max had a long to-do list while he was here and the kids were more than willing to help. Let me tell you, while my dad was here for a week he put up 2 ceiling fans, replaced 4 faucets, rehung the light over the table, replaced the 2 lights in the entry, one in the hallway and one in the dining room. Oh, and he finished painting our room. The man was BUSY! Thanks Dad!
They did manage to get in a tea party
And a New Year's Eve celebration
New Year's day wouldn't be complete without New Year's cookies!
