Kevin's LOOONG birthday

Ha!  Yes, Kevin stretched his birthday out this year.  And, although he doesn't admit it, it was his own doing.  Let me explain.  He decided that for his birthday he was going to invite his guy friends over so they could sit in the back yard, around a fire pit and enjoy some beer.  Great, not a problem.  His birthday fell on a Friday, so it worked out great.  However, when you have toddlers (or maybe just mine) a birthday isn't really a birthday without cake and presents.  So, Thursday we baked a cake and then gave Kevin his presents.

Friday, about 10 of his friends came over and they spent a few hours outside, around the fire pit drinking beer.  I hear it was fun, I'll take his word for it.

Saturday Kevin decided he wanted to take the kids to Fossil Rim.  It is a wildlife center where you drive your car on a paved road through the habitat.  You feed the animals and they come right up to your car.  At a silent auction for our home study agency we won a 6 month pass to Fossil Rim.  We decided now was a good time to activate it.  Our kids had SO MUCH FUN!  And when Macey and Xander have fun, we have fun too!

And I fed a giraffe! SO COOL!

This giraffe fascinated me.  He had black spots with tan in the middle, rather than your typical golden color spots with white in the middle.  I just thought it was so unique!

 Again, no zoom used here. This is what Xander calls "The big honkin' guy."  Apparently, I said that at least once about this animal, and well, he likes to repeat the things I say. These are actually European Red Deer.  They look like a horse with huge deer antlers, they really are big!

So, 3 days of celebrating Kevin's 39th birthday!  We all had fun and we're lucky to be able to celebrate him!  And, now he's gone to work out of town for the next 4 days...celebration over. ;)
