Rockwall vs. Southlake

Well, the Dragons of Southlake came to Rockwall. I think they were expecting a pretty easy win. I mean they just lost their first game, the week before, since 2003. I'm not kidding!!! The Yellowjackets were prepared. The Dragon's first two posessions resulted in turnovers that turned into Rockwall touchdowns. We were up 14-0! AMAZING!

A packed house (although you can't tell from the pictures of the Southlake side) yelled and screamed their way through the best high school football game I have ever seen. The best team in the state, possibly the nation, was at out house and we were not going to let them win easily. They scored to make it 14-7 only for the Yellowjackets to return the kickoff for 89 yards and touchdown!! Have I already explained how AMAZING it was!

Unfortunately, it was tied at halftime 28-28. We knew it would be a dog fight until the end, and it was. There was an unfortunate injury to one of the Dragons. He had to be taken away by ambulance, but he ended up being ok. The momentum changed at that point. The Dragons came out screaming. It is true, Jacket Fight Never Dies, and it did not that night.

The final score was 49-42 Dragons. Although we lost on the scoreboard it was not a defeat in the eyes of anyone in Rockwall. We scared them! They just came off of their first loss in years and we could have handed them #2. The Yellowjackets played with heart. The believed in themselves and the whole community rallied around them. Everyone held their heads high at the end of the night because they knew they played their best.

Next up the Garland Owls. This is our first distict game and probably the most important. Last year Garland was expected to win district, but the Yellowjackets went undefeated...and plan to do it again! Stay tuned.
GO JACKETS!
I just found this. It is a video of all the touchdowns from the game and some highlights. Enjoy!
